The BIG administrator announced today that due to the early completion of the Berkshire Insulator Gallery Insulator Decorated Elevated Annex (BIGIDEA) it was going to be possible to open the engineering lab for public access. The Berkshire Insulator Gallery Development, Engineering & Analysis Lab (BIGDEAL) is now being readied for visitors.

Preparations for opening of the Berkshire Insulator Gallery Annex Soda Shop (BIGASS) at the Berkshire Insulator Gallery Insulator Decorated Elevated Annex (BIGIDEA) continued this week. One important step was a washing of the insulators to remove the Berkshire Insulator Gallery Bird Initiated Regurgitation and Droppings (BIGBIRD-DOODOO) as well as years of accumulated dirt and other crud from the long outdoor storage at EPRI’s Lenox lab.

Also installed this week was the Berkshire Insulator Gallery Temporary Overhead Protection (BIGTOP) over the BIGIDEA and BIGASS. The BIGTOP is important as it will allow all weather use of the BIGASS. When not in use for the BIGASS the BIGTOP can also be converted to the Berkshire Insulator Gallery Temporary Insulator Maintenance Enclosure (BIGTIME) for year round work on the BIG facilities and displays.
